The Lord Botetourt track team had seven athletes competing in the Virginia AA State Track Meet in Harrisonburg last weekend at Harrisonburg High School.
Competing for the Cavs were Charquia Wright in the 100 meters and 400 meters, Micah Luedtke in the 1600 meters, Taylor Cline in the 1600 meters and the 3200 meters, Andrew McLucas in the discus, Nialah Wilson in the 100-meter hurdles, Balee Williams in the high jump, and Lexie Janney in the 400 meters.
“All of our athletes did very well, considering this was obviously the toughest competition in the state,” said LB coach Peter Walton. “Everyone did extremely well and most performed beyond their seed placement.”
Wright placed eighth in the state in the 100-meter dash and ninth in the 400 meters. McLucas finished ninth in the discus.
“All together, we were extremely pleased with the outcome of this season,” said Walton. “We’re definitely going to miss our seniors, but we’re thankful for our large underclassmen group that we can continue to work with in the future.”
Grafton won the boys Group AA championship and Blacksburg High won the girls Group AA title.
