Weeks, Alice Marjorie Brewer

Alice Marjorie Brewer Weeks, 84, of Salem died December 19, 2009. She was the retired owner of A & M Floral Gallery and was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. She taught ladies’ Sunday School classes for many years at Calvary Baptist Church in Salem. After a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, the last 3-1/2 years of her life were spent in the comfort of her home, being lovingly cared for by her family. Among those who preceded her in death were her husband, James Russell Weeks; brother William A. Brewer; and grandson,James Matthew Townsend. Survivors include daughters Michelle Gillispie, Yvonne K. Townsend and husband, the Rev. John Townsend, and Marlene Krafft Beckner and husband Daryl; grandchildren Shaun Patrick Carroll, John Clinton Townsend, Benjamin Lucas Townsend, Timothy Andrew McGoy, Jeremy James McGoy, Darren Edward Beckner, Emily Anne Beckner, and Elizabeth Jane Beckner; nine great-grandchildren; brother Charles Max Brewer and wife Rebecca; and sister-in-law Peggy Brewer Yale. A funeral service was held December 22 at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. Interment followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Bob Alderman officiating.
