Vinton man charged with running meth lab on W. Madison Ave.

A Vinton man has been charged in connection with an investigation into a meth lab in the town, according to Vinton Police.

John Thomas Nelon, Jr., 28, has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing red phosphorus and other drugs with the intent of manufacturing methamphetamine and manufacturing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

All charges are placed are felonies, and evidence has been submitted to the forensic lab for analysis and those results are pending.


Investigators were on the scene Friday morning of \the suspected methampetamine lab at a garage on W. Madison Ave. when a search warrant was executed at the garage, according a news release from the Vinton Police Department.


The search warrant was issued in regard to the report of a suspected methamphetamine lab at this location.

Assistance was requested from the Virginia State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for service of the warrant.
