By Meg Hibbert

SALEM – Salem Police arrested two young men suspected of being the gun-wielding robbers who held up a young man in his home on Elizabeth Avenue Monday and took an undisclosed amount of money.

The adult was identified Samuel Louis Coffey, 18, of Salem, who was arrested in a Roanoke County motel that same day. Today Salem Police arrested a 16-year-old male.

The unidentified 19-year-old victim told police about midnight he met a casual acquaintance and another he knew only by a nickname. The two pulled out handguns and robbed him, he said.

The teenager, whom police did not identify because he is a juvenile, was charged with armed robbery with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing firearm.

He was arrested in Roanoke Tuesday about 11 a.m., police said, with the assistance of the Roanoke City Police Department, and is being held at the Roanoke Detention Center.
