Tactical team helps to arrest Paint Bank suspect
NEW CASTLE – Local residents thought it was another massive drug bust when dozens of members of the Virginia State Police Tactical Team met up to assist Craig County Sheriff’s Deputies last week.
Instead, it was to arrest one man, who was identified as Richard Todd Will in the Paint Bank area.
According to Sheriff Clifford Davidson, Will has been charged with four felonies: two charges of credit card fraud, unauthorized use of a vehicle and one of probation violation.
Will is being held without bond in the Craig-Botetourt Regional Jail.
The sheriff said the large number of law enforcement officers who worked together to arrest Will on Jan. 20 was due to “the remote location of the residence that Mr. Will was located, and the fact that Mr. Will is known to attempt to evade arrest.”
In November, Virginia State Police officers, tact team members, regional drug agents and Craig County deputies conducted early-morning arrests in a massive drug bust.
Resulting charges, which are winding their way through Craig County courts now, included offenses from heroin distribution, cocaine possession with intent to distribute, marijuana, pain pills and even moonshine.
