Scott, Joy Ann
Joy Ann Scott, 69, of Salem died February 3. She was raised in Hiwassee, Va., and moved to Roanoke when she was a young woman. She worked in the textile industry for 34 years at the Maid Bess Corp. She was preceded in death by husband Benny Flynn, and sister Carol Jones. Survivors include husband Robert Scott; son and daughter-in-law Dave and Mendy Flynn; grandchildren and their spouses Elizabeth and Paul Adams, Leah and Doug Shank, Andrew Flynn, Kassie Collins, Brandon Cudworth; great-grandchildren Ashley Adams, Lindsey Adams, Briar Shank; sisters Bertha Pentecost and husband A. J., Janie Gregory; brothers Gilbert Atkins and wife Linda, Alvin Atkins, Raven Atkins; sister-in-law Karen Milton and husband Steven; brother-in-law Rick Scott and wife Barbara; mother-in-law Catherine Scott. Funeral services were conducted at Lotz Salem Chapel on February 5, with the Rev. Michael Palmer officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Pulaski.
