Police warn of lane closure UPDATE

By Montgomery Publishing

Blacksburg Police are currently investigating a single vehicle crash that has occurred on East U.S. 460 Bypass just east of Brush Mountain Road.

One lane of east bound U.S. 460 Bypass is closed. Drivers are expected to encounter slow moving traffic and should use caution when approaching this area.

At 8:10 a.m. all lanes of Rt. 460 were reopened following an early morning traffic crash.

The single-vehicle, roll-over crash occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. when the driver of a 2009 Hyundai sedan lost control of his vehicle on Rt. 460 West, crossed the median, and crashed into the guardrail for the eastbound lanes.

The driver, James C. Kane, was airlifted to Roanoke and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors.
