Police searching for North Broad Street robber

Salem Police are on the lookout for a young robber who took money from a woman sitting in her car on North Broad Street on Wednesday, April 3, according to the victim.

She described him as being in his late teens, about 6 feet tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The woman old police when the young man approached her car shortly after noon on Wednesday, she rolled down her window to see what he wanted, and he got into her car. The robber ordered her to drive to a nearby alley, she said, where the suspect stole an unspecified amount of money from her before running away on foot.

The victim was treated and released at the hospital, police said, for injuries that were not life threatening.

Police are asking anyone with information about who the suspect is or about the crime to call the Salem Police at 375-3078, or the Roanoke Crime Line at 344-8500.
