Police release videotape of robbers
CAVE SPRING – Police today released surveillance photos and descriptions of two armed men who robbed McDonald’s in Oak Grove and attempted to hold up the Kangaroo convenience store on Electric Road Sunday night.
Police are asking for help from the public in identifying the two black males first attempted to hold up the clerk at the Kangaroo store at 9:15 p.m., police said, and assaulted the clerk before fleeing.
A little over an hour later, armed robbers who looked like the same men hit McDonald’s, Roanoke County Police said.
At McDonald’s, the robbers ordered employees to the back of the restaurant, and, according to videotape from the surveillance cameras, one robber jumped over the counter.
According to descriptions and videotape police released Aug. 16, one of the men was about 5-foot-2 inches, and wore a dark jacket, blue jeans and light-brown boots or shoes, with a cloth wrapped around his head and face.
The other was described as 5-foot-10 inches, wearing dark clothing, white tennis shoes and blue gloves. He also wore a cloth over his face.
Investigating officers Detectives D. Walters and A. Morris are asking anyone with information to call them at 562-3265.
