New Castle trucking firm owner Frango dies in accident

By Meg Hibbert
NEW CASTLE – New Castle trucking firm owner Louie Frango died this morning, March 13, when his truck crashed into a tree on Rt. 311 in Craig County.
Frango, who owned Louie Frango Trucking, Excavating and Farm Supply, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that happened about 9:30 a.m.
Virginia State Police said Frango, who was 72, was not wearing a seat belt. He was apparently alone in the 2000 Sterling dump truck that was headed north on Rt. 311 when it ran off the road at the intersection of Jockey Moore Lane, police said.
An investigation into the accident is continuing.
For remembrances of Frango and more details as they become available, read the March 20 print issue of The New Castle Record.
EDITOR’s NOTE – Although the press release from the VSP said no additional details were available about the other driver, VSP Sgt. Bob Carpentieri later said there was not a second vehicle involved, and that information was accidentally included in the release.

What other driver? It was a one car accident. One car. one driver.

  2. The Virginia State Police press release included that final sentence about another vehicle, but no details.
