After graduation from Allentown Bible Institute in Allentown, Pa., his first pastorate was Christo Pilgrim Holiness Church on Bent Mountain; he also pastored in Christiansburg, Boissevain, Va., and Five Forks Wesleyan Church in Stuart, and filled many pulpits around southwest Virginia as a supply pastor. He retired in 1987 from a secondary career as a painter at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Survivors include two brothers, nine children and spouses, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by daughter Lois Juanita Moore Owens.
