This is in reply to your article about the flyer Fred Stevens and the memorial @ East Mountain C.C.. My group P.V.M.T.M. as well as E.M.C.C. will be hosting the dedication on 10/20. I have met with both the Stevens family & the Danell family here in Ma. The dedication is shaping up very nicely and should be well attended. Thanks so much for your article. The stone is beautiful, the setting peaceful, everything looks great. Let’s hope the weather cooperates.

They did not fly out of Barnes Airport in Westfield. They both were assigned to the 60th Fighter Interceptor Squadron which flew out of Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, MA. The accident or midair collision took place over Barnes Airport in Westfield where both pilots died.
