Montgomery County to close schools, library and county offices early for weather
The Montgomery County school system will be sending its students and faculty home early today, Thursday, Jan. 17, closing its doors two-and-a-half hours before its standard closing time in preparation for an incoming winter storm, according to the school system’s website.
All after school activities have been canceled.
MCPS.org states that in accordance to its early closing proceedures, all teachers and instructional aides will remain on-site for 30 minutes following the students’ release, and essential personnel are expected to remain at least two hours after student dismissal.
The forecast for inclement weather has MontCo library branches closing at 3 p.m., including Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Shawsville and Floyd branches. All Montgomery County offices will close at 3 p.m. as well.
