Maryland man charged with online solicitation

A Maryland resident has been arrested following an undercover investigation by the Christiansburg Police Department.

According to a press release, Ercy Theodore Stottlemyer Jr., 52, is charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor by electronic means.

Investigators from the Christiansburg Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit posed as a 13-year-old female during the investigation.

Stottlemyer was arrested in Maryland by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held without bond awaiting an extradition hearing.

The Christiansburg Police Department is a member of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SOVA ICAC) and worked with the Maryland ICAC on this case.
