Last pig

SALEM – The much-painted pig outside Henry’s Memphis Barbecue on West Main Street is gone, now, as is the restaurant.

One of the last groups to paint the pig were the “Raging Bulls,” dancers with the Divine Dance Center in Roanoke. After they returned from their final dance competition of the year, Salem dancers met up at the pig on Thursday, July 22, with red paint to turn the pig into a raging bull, complete with horns.¬†Another unnamed group painted the pig the next morning and then it was gone.

Salem dancers who painted the pig were Sarah Wilke, Courtney Boyd, Abbie Hoback, Bryn Burns and Allie Hoback.

Initially, he said he was considering moving the pig to his Roanoke restaurant location.

The Salem dancers, along with their fellow dance troop members, brought home 12 national grand championships from the Dynamite National Talent Competition in Norfolk on July 17.
