Last home game for RC hockey Saturday

The Roanoke College field hockey team fell to Mary Washington, 4-0, in non-conference action last Sunday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons dropped to 2-12 on the season while the Eagles improved to 11-5.

Emma Jones scored two goals to lead Mary Washington as she totaled five shots, two on goal. Florence George scored a goal and led the Eagles with five shots,

four on goal. Amy Stevens added the other goal in addition to two shots on goal.

Taylor Cazeault and Jessica Perkins each finished the afternoon with two shots apiece. Abby Bjork totaled three defensive saves while Ashley Fuhrer had a defensive save of her own. Fuhrer set the single-season defensive saves record at Roanoke with 11 on the season. She is ranked fifth on the school’s career list.

Cristina Scichilone finished with six saves in goal for the Maroons. She surpassed her freshman year total with 124 saves on the season and is now sixth all-time on the career saves list at Roanoke.

The women will host Bridgewater in the regular season finale on Saturday, October 24. The Maroons are 37-18-2 all-time against Bridgewater. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
