Clara Redden “Sweet Thing” Jordan, 99, of Salem, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 13, 2010, while she was surrounded by her loving family. Clara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Fred A. Jordan Sr. and her precious son and daughter, Fred A. Jordan Jr. and Joanne Robertson.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Ronald and Marilyn Jordan; daughter and husband Shirley and Cliff Wagner; daughter and husband Jackie and Darius Turman, all of Salem; and daughter-in-law Rosemary Jordan of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren Paul and Patty Jordan of Raleigh, David and Teri Robertson of Wilmington, N.C.; Calvin and Robin Robertson of Roanoke, Debbie Giordano of Salem, and George Keller of Salem, Mike and Dianna Beamer of Salem, Jeff Beamer and Sonya Morris of Clayton, N.C.; Tommy and Amanda Beheler of Vinton, and a very special precious loving granddaughter, Clara and Shane Brown of Salem; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Clara and Fred loved the people from Trinity Church of the Brethren, Saunders Grove Church of the Brethren and Hollins Road Church of the Brethren, where they were lifetime members. They also loved their Glenvar neighbors, friends and community.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for all their loving care. A very special heartfelt thanks to LeVonda Franklin, her caregiver and adopted granddaughter. Donations may be made to Hollins Road Church of the Brethren and/or Good Samaritan Hospice. A celebration service of her life was held on Wednesday, June 16, at Oakey’s North Chapel with the Rev. Horace D. Light officiating. Interment followed in Sherwood Memorial Park.
