Hooked on Fishing

NEW CASTLE  – Bryson Drake’s citation trout was almost half at long as he is tall.

The young fisherman from New Castle caught the largest citation trout, 19-inches long and weighing 3.45-pounds, at Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs annual event May 7 on Barbour’s Creek.

This year’s grand prize of a lifetime fishing license was won by Cody Rock, who is 10.The fishing day is sponsored by the Craig County Sheriff’s Office with help from other agencies.

Sheriff Clifford Davidson reported about 250 kids who were ages 3 through 15 took part this year.

“Despite the threat of rain, and lots of rain the day before, Barbours Creek was crystal clear and ready for kids to catch their limit,” Davidson said.

This year’s grand prize, a lifetime fishing license, was won by Cody Rock age 10.

A hot dog lunch was cooked and provided by the Upper Craigs Creek Fire Department.
