Hartless, Carolyn LaPrad
Carolyn LaPrad Hartless, 71, of Salem peacefully passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born January 14, 1939, in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Carl David and Margaret Hall Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband George Arthur LaPrad; and sister Patricia Craft. Mrs. Hartless was a retired bus driver from Roanoke County School System with over 20 years of service. She was a member of Salem Church of Christ and a 40-plus year member of AL-ANON. Survivors include a son, Todd LaPrad; daughters,Suzanne Hiersche and husband Wayne and Carla Ramey and husband Jim; brother David Wilson; grandchildren Ben Rutrough, Chelsea Rutrough, Damien Smith, Maegen Hiersche and Bailey Hiersche; and a great-grandchild, Hayden Rutrough. Funeral services were conducted January 27 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. David Workman officiating. Interment followed at Sherwood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Carolyn’s name to Salem Church of Christ.
