Free school immunizations this week

NEW CASTLE – Free school vaccinations will be given this Friday, Aug. 20, at the Craig County Health Department, and other days in the health district that serves the Roanoke Valley.

School-age children are required to have set vaccinations to enter kindergarten and the sixth grade. Craig County Schools open next Tuesday, Aug. 24, and Roanoke County Schools the day before.

Vaccinations will be available from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Craig County Health Department on Friday, on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Covington/Clifton Forge Health Department, and on Monday, Aug. 23, at the Botetourt Health Department.

They are also available at the Vinton Health Department from 4:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, and that same day 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Roanoke City Health Department. Shots will provided again at the Roanoke City Health Department from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24; from 4:30-7 p.m. on Aug. 26, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 31.

Parents and guardians should be certain to take their children’s shots records with them.
