Ford ‘visits’ mobile phone store

By Heather Brush

SALEM – Dale Mull of Shawsville thought his 2006 Ford Focus was in reverse when he crashed through the front door of Verizon on Main Street in Salem on Friday, April 27. It was about 3:30 p.m., Mull had been ready to leave the parking place when several pedestrians were around and behind his vehicle. He took the car out of reverse and inadvertently put it into drive while waiting for the area to clear. When the parking lot was free of people he meant to back out of the space, but went forward instead.

Salem Police Officer M.Y. Warren arrived on the scene. No one was hurt in the accident and Mull’s vehicle did not seem to be terribly damaged. “It was still running when I turned it off and got out,” Mull said. Professional Auto Towing of Salem pulled the vehicle out of the store, estimating a few thousand dollars damage to the car. The store has considerable glass damage. Mull felt in good health and did not require medical attention.
