SALEM, VA. – Katie Rudinas and Brandon Wilson won’t have any trouble remembering New Year’s 2013.
That’s the day their first child, Brayden Wilson, was born. Brayden is the first baby born in Salem in 2013, and one of the first in the Roanoke Valley.
The 8-pound-1/2-ounce boy was the first child born at LewisGale Medical Center at 5:12 a.m. on Jan. 1 to Rudinas, 20, and Wilson, 26, of Bedford.
Brayden was due on Jan. 4, his mom said, “But I realized about 10 p.m. I was in labor. We missed the New Year’s Eve ball drop getting to the hospital at midnight, but it was worth it.”
The baby makes the fifth generation, with living grandparents Mike and Cindy Grishaw, Wesley Wilson Heather and Mark Rudinas, all of Bedford; great-grandparents Phyllis Burns and Mary Ann Rudinas, Carlton and Rachel Toms, great-great grandmother Clara Toms, all of Bedford, and great-great-grandfather Marvin Branch of Big Island.
