Imogene Cranford (Gene) Erickson, 78, of Vinton, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2009. She was born on May 6, 1931, to the late Oliver M. Cranford and Sallie Elizabeth Nunn Cranford. She was also predeceased by two sons, Randy Eugene Erickson and Nathan Max Erickson; a sister, Nell Brown; and brother, Max Cranford. Imogene worked in retail sales having spent time at W.T. Grant and K-Mart Stores. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Richard Lee Erickson; two sons, Richard Keith Erickson and wife, Kay, of Richlands, Ga., and Warren McDonald Erickson and wife, Ginger, of Stewartsville; a daughter, Myra Nell Guilliams and husband, Jim, of Moneta; sister-in-law, Sissy Erickson, of Rocky Mount; 14 grandchildren; and one deceased grandchild; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Myra C. Baker, of Covington, Ga. A service celebrating Imogene’s life was conducted Monday, December 7, 2009, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Joey Phillips and Philip Clements officiating. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
