Carolyn Keith Eck, 86, of Roanoke, died on Friday, January 8, 2010. She graduated from Emory University and worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salem for over 50 years, was a part of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and enjoyed her association with the Friendship Garden Club. In addition to her parents, Claude A. and Grace Porch Keith, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Keith; and sisters, Marion O’Dell and Claudia Carswell. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Roy A. Eck; children Mike Eck and wife Marci Keener of Maryland and Mindy Nolte and husband Paul of New Kent, Va.; brother Robert Keith of Florida; grandchildren Lindsay and Claire Keener-Eck of Maryland and Hanna Nolte of New Kent; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Interment followed at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Bobby Pickle officiating.
