VINTON–The Roanoke Valley Chapter (Vinton) of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) met on Saturday, November 14 to complete their annual Blankets for Veterans project.
The women hand-tied 20 full-size fleece blankets and 20 lap blankets to be donated to veterans at the Salem Veterans Hospital and the Virginia Veterans Care Center. This is just one of many community service projects the local chapter is involved with each year.
The Roanoke Valley Chapter NSDAR meets at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Vinton on second Saturdays at 10 a.m. Sharon Menzies is currently serving as chapter regent.
The DAR, founded in 1890, is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, to preserving American history, and to securing America’s future through better education for children.
