Craig County woman’s shooting death under investigation

CRAIG COUNTY – Virginia State Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old woman in Craig County who was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound Monday afternoon, Dec. 9. Her identity has not been released as of press time Tuesday.

Special Agent Garland Snead of the VSP Field Office in Salem is assigned to the investigation, according to Lt. Rex Taylor.

The Craig County Sheriff’s Office called in the state police when the woman was found dead at a home in the 5000 block of Craig Valley Drive, which is Rt. 311.

Police did not give his name, but said a man from that address has been arrested for domestic assault. The investigation is continuing.
