Thelma Moore Cox, 90, of Radford, Va., passed away on Fri., Dec. 4, 2009, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born March 11, 1919 in Dry Valley, Va. to the late Hamilton Lee and Gracie Ann Moore. While attending college, she worked at Perfater Funeral Home. Upon graduation from Radford Women’s College, she taught school in a one-room school house in Riner. After she married and began her family, she started babysitting in her home, which spanned more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol N. Cox; infant son Hamilton Lee Cox; four brothers, Rollie Moore, Garnie Moore, Sim Moore, and Leslie Moore; two sisters, Dorothy Moore, and Annie “Polly” Moore; granddaughter, Mary Grace Morris. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Bove, Judy and Keith Crowder, Becky and Chuck Morris, and Sandy and Greg Howard; grandchildren Andrew Crowder, Alex and Autumn Howard, Charlie Morris, Chance Morris, Buzz Morris, and (Kelli). The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 5, 2009 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sun., Dec. 6, 2009 at Radford Church of Christ, with Mr. Larry Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Capt. George Quesenberry Cemetery.
