SALEM – A couple living in a Salem motel were arrested last night and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in the room where they stayed with their two young children.
Salem Police, assisted by Virginia State Police and officers from the Roanoke-area Drug Enforcement Task Force, arrested Bradley Miles Christley and Cassandra Yvonne Christley, each 27 years old. Police said they were suspected of running a small-scale meth lab in their room at a motel in the 2700 block of West Main Street .
The couple’s two young children, whose ages were not given, were with the couple when they were arrested in the parking lot of a business on Wildwood Road about 5 p.m. Thursday, and were removed with the help of the Department of Social Services. The children are now with relatives who live in the area, Salem Police said.
Each of the Christleys was charged with one count of manufacturing methamphetamine, one count of manufacturing it in the presence of children, and two counts of felony child neglect.
The couple are being held without bond in the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.
Salem Police said the investigation is continuing.
