Cara Wane Sowers of Salem and Brian Austin Cole of Newport News were married on October 10. The wedding was held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Greg Moser, associate pastor of Green Ridge Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Clara Sowers of Salem, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and mrs. Gilbert Sowers of New Castle and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dudding of Waiteville, W.Va.
The bridegroom is the son of Dean and Sonja Cole of Findlay, Ohio. He is the grandson of Greta Dickerson and the late Ralph Dickerson of Salem, and Bob and Betty Sadler of Salem and Ed and Jane Cole of Portsmouth.
The bride’s attendants were her cousin and matron of honor, Michelle Deel of Roanoke; Betsy Cole of Richmond, Erin Love of Roanoke and Ashley DeGroat of Johnson City, Tenn.
The groom chose his father as his best man. Attendants were Ryan Adams of Blacksburg, Travis Lauver of Falls Church and Josh Skipper of North Carolina.
The flower girls were Natalie and Asher Love of Roanoke. The ring bearer was Peyton Deel of Roanoke.
The bride is a graduate of Salem High School and Virginia Western Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education.
The groom is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and Virginia Tech, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is currently working on his master’s in engineering.
The couple is residing in Newport News.
