Chewning-Ferguson
Sherry Ferguson is proud to announce the marriage of her daughter, Ashley Nicole Ferguson, to David Wayne Chewning Jr. on Sept. 11, 2010, in an outdoor ceremony overlooking Currituck Sound on the point at the Whalehead Club in Corolla, N.C. The wedding was officiated by Dr. Dave Keller.
The bride is the granddaughter of Frances Stone and the late Thomas Stone of Salem. The groom is the son of David Sr. and Cheryle Chewing of Roanoke and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Abner Chewning of Vinton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell M. Aldridge Jr. of Roanoke.
Sara Ashwell was her sister’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristina Stone of Salem, Dawn Riddle of Abingdon, Sara Bottiglieri of Williamsburg, Whitney Overstreet of Salem, Stephanie Buck of Raleigh, N.C., and Molly Brickler of Milwaukee, Wis. Jaelyn Riddle of Abingdon was the flower girl.
The groom’s father was his best man. Groomsmen were Josh Riddle of Abingdon, Chesley Mitchell of Salem, Stephen Ganter of Roanoke, Justin Gilbert of Bluefield, Bryan Ferguson of Salem and Lee Elkins of Morristown, Tenn. Brandon and Benjamin Ashwell, nephews of the bride, were junior groomsmen and Andrew Ashwell was the ringbearer.
A wedding reception was held at the Currituck Country Club.
After a honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica, the couple reside in Mebane, N.C.
The bride graduated from Radford University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is now an RN in pediatric oncology at Duke University Hospital.
The groom is a graduate of Emory and Henry where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He is currently employed by Dougherty Equipment in Raleigh.
