They have four children, Ronnie Sheppard and Connie Sheppard, daughters Debbie Richardson and Patricia Hill and seven grandchildren, Brian Andrews, Jessica Brimmer, Christina Hill, Justin Sheppard, Jennifer Chierchia, Adam Hill and Andy Sheppard.

The Sheppards also have eight great-grandchildren: Blake Baba, Arielle Baba, Kirstin Smith, Madison Brimmer, Brooklyn Saul, Kyndall Gordon, Colten Sheppard and Parker Holdren, and one great, great-granddaughter born 11-11-11, Marley Harmon.

They were married on June 4, 1986, at Roanoke Congregational Holiness Church. Susan is a 1986 graduate of Staunton River High School and is employed as the Branch Manager for Old Dominion Eye Foundation, Inc. She is the daughter of Tommy and Justine McKee of Vinton.

Susan and Master Sgt. Carson Wilson

Carson is a 1983 graduate of Salem High School and retired from the United States Army in May 2011 after 28 years of service. He is the son of the late Rev. John and Zola Wilson of Elliston.

They have two daughters and a son-in-law, Coty and Amber Stockton and Lauren Wilson. They are members of Harbor of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Christiansburg and are expecting their first grandchild in January 2012.

The couple operated several restaurants in Salem and John was later a Realtor.

They have one daughter, one granddaughter and a puppy named “Cookie.”

Mrs. Glass graduated from William Fleming High School. Mr. Glass graduated from Glenvar High School and Virginia Western Community College.

She is retired from K&W Cafeteria in Tanglewood after 25 years. He is employed by Snyder General Corp. of Verona.

Harrison Lewis Buchanan, who then was from Morganton, N.C., and Lucy Annette Moore of Lenoir, N.C., were married Jan. 2, 1960, in Gaffney, S.C.

The trip was a gift from their children, who are: Donna Sigman (David) of Fort Mill, S.C.; Dawn Graham (Buddy), Cheraw, S.C.; Melanie Smith (Steve), Cheraw, S.C., and Harry Buchanan (Kristie) of Roanoke.

The couple have 12 grandchildren: Justin and Brent Hollingsworth; Kate, Samantha and Emily Graham; Alex, Sara and Caroline Smith; Erika, Jack, Kevin and Troy Buchanan.

Lewis has a small upholstery business, Variety Upholstery on Hershberger Road, that he has operated for almost 40 years.

The 60th wedding anniversary celebration for Robert and Elizabeth Harris of Troutville was held at The Hotel Roanoke on Saturday, Oct. 10. They were married October 14, 1949 at Glade Creek Baptist Church in Blue Ridge.

They have three children, Belinda McKee (Mrs. Mike) of Middletown, Md.; Melonie Overfelt (Mrs. Rob) of Daleville; and Robert Harris Jr. and wife Tammy of Troutville. The couple also has four grandchildren, Luke McKee and wife Sara of Greencastle, Pa.; Amanda Gray and husband Marc of Lynchburg; Tyler Murray and husband Patrick of Manhattan, N.Y.; and Hannah Harris of Troutville. They have two great-grandsons, Cameron McKee and Brody McKee of Greencastle, Pa.

Robert is retired from the Tom Houston Peanut Co. and Elizabeth is retired from Troutville Elementary School. Since retiring, they have been active in their church, gardening and spending time with family. They have been residents of Botetourt County all of their lives.

Russell 50th Anniversary

Fred and Nancy Russell of Salem celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the weekend of Sept. 26 with an overnight stay at Natural Bridge Hotel, family dinner on Saturday and a fellowship reception with their church family on Sunday.
They are also planning a trip to the Holy Land early next year.
The couple were married at Waverly Place Baptist Church in Roanoke on Sept. 24, 1959, by Pastor Stone.
They have two children, Elizabeth Russell of Eden, N.C., and Catherine Montgomery and husband David of Salem. The Russells also have three grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob and Joshua.
Fred was employed by General Electric for 33 years. Nancy is currently employed by General Electric.
