Broyles, Thomas “Tommy” Gray

Thomas “Tommy” Gray Broyles, 74, of New Castle passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at his home. Tommy was born December 19, 1935,  in Ballard, W. Va., to the late Leonard Pence Broyles and Neva Mae Underwood Broyles. Tommy was married to Irene Elizabeth Carr on May 25, 1957, in Peterstown, W. Va.. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed with Kroger for 34 years and then partnered with Harold Maxey on B&M Farms for 30 plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Arthur and Ethel Underwood; and daughter-in-law Patricia Lynn Broyles.

He is survived by wife Irene Carr Broyles; children Elizabeth Gray Broyles and Steve Nemore, John Douglas Broyles and Peggy Gearhart; grandchildren Valerie Broyles Lane and Edward Lane, Benjamin Michael Broyles, Lincoln Douglas Humphry, and Pierce Daniell Humphry; great-grandchildren Ethan Maurice Greer, Jadelyn Faith Lane, and Briana Sky Sargent; siblings Bobby Ray Broyles, Leonard Eugene Broyles, Martha Broyles Belcher, and Patrick Arthur Broyles; friends and fellow farmers Harold and Christine Maxey; cousins Ethel Mae Long and Mary Caroline Burks; also numerous friends and family. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Huffman Memorial Park with Pastor Willis A. Carr officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, July 9, 2010 at Paitsel Funeral Home. Following the Graveside Service the family will hold a Memorial Service at their home at 19953 Cumberland Gap Road, New Castle, VA 24127.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Saint Francis Service Dogs 8232 Enon Drive, Roanoke, VA 24019.
