Jacquelyn Barr Britts, 74, of Playa del Rey, Calif., left us for Heaven on Nov. 2, 2010. Jackie was a member of Culver-Palms United Methodist Church and Central United Methodist Church in Salem.
At Central, she was a longtime member of the Chancel Choir, a Sunday school teacher and served as chairperson of the church board. One of her significant contributions to the community was establishing an after-school program which included outreach for underprivileged children in Salem. At Culver-Palms, she was in the United Methodist Women Faith Circle.
She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Billy and wife Christina of Seattle, Wash.; daughter Kimberly and husband Doug of Playa del Rey. She is also survived by her sister Mary and husband Eddie Camper of Fairfax, sister Janice Pierce of Salem and sister Barby and husband Bob Bardsley of Las Vegas, Nev.
Three grandchildren, Hans, Ian and Eva also survive her. She was predeceased by her brother, Wayne Barr of Birmingham, Ala.
A lovely memorial service was conducted by Rev. Lynette Fuka of Culver-Palms UMC on Nov. 5. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Jackie should be made to Culver-Palms UMC, 4464 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230. Gifts should be designated for the Children’s Ministry.
