The Radford High School drama team took third place at the Virginia High School League state theatre festival on Monday, narrowly missing second place by one point. The team performed Greater Tuna, a comedy about the residents of the fictional town of Tuna, TX.

Dante Piro and Josh Mullins were the only actors on the stage, portraying multiple characters. The actors had over 10 crew members who assisted with their quick costume changes.

Piro and Mullins were chosen by the judges to receive Best Actor Awards for their performance. Only eight of these awards were presented.

The team advanced to the state competition after placing second in regionals.

  • These kids are outstanding. From the part of the team that made the lights and sounds happen, to the ones who made the costume changes go flawlessly, to the boys on stage who created performance magic. From stage direction to technical direction, every person involved in this process is a STAR. The Radford High School Drama Team is one to watch. Good things are happening at Radford High School.
