SALEM – An FBI special agent will talk about human trafficking in the United States at an ecumenical candlelight vigil and awareness program on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Special Agent Judy Sykes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Richmond will speak during the event from 6 to 6:50 p.m. hosted by Fort Lewis Christian Church on West Main Street in Salem.
January 11 is National Human Trafficking Day.
Participants will gather for opening remarks in the Garden of Justice in front of the church at 2931 W. Main Street. Afterwards, they will process in the church’s fellowship hall for hot drinks and Sykes’ presentation.
Disciples of Christ women from Virginia and North Carolina have been asked to create a faith response to human trafficking in their states, said Fort Lewis Christian member Jennie Sue Murdock.
